Living room re-do

Ok although it’s still going slow, the house is slowly coming together…well I say this while looking at a lovely long list in my diary of things that need doing. The biggest list surprisingly being for our living room. You know it’s not quite right. The furniture needs updating a little with a bit of fresh paint. It needs a whole new layout, with some organisation tweaking. I think the problem is my living room is a bit of an odd shape, and we have a rather  unusual collection of furniture which don’t blend together as much as I would like them too.

So I went onto  a room building website, I used Room Sketcher, and did a  quick rough layout. It is by no means accurate in measurements..hey what can I say I’m pregnant and tired..but you get the jist of the layout at the moment..also my furniture isn’t all white..I just gave up trying to find furniture matching ours.

So add some massive amounts of clutter and this is kind of our living room. Now I have been getting inspiration from none other then Pinterest, on how I might be able make my living room my dream living room. I also just went downstairs and realised there isn’t an alcove section on the right hand side of the room…apparently the door and wall meet…who knew.. Anyway so while I’m working out a layout, I want to give my furniture a spruce, and add some colour to our living room, I love the idea of lots of mix matched pillows, and bright accents.

I love the turquoise and yellow accents in this room. The gallery wall is awesome too. This is from Mckenna Bleu.

I am defiantly leaning towards lots of different pillows….this is from Enter My Attic.

I have a lot of stuff, I am not even going to try and deny it, but I love how this room looks cluttered but at the same time stylish and organised. This is from Nicety.

Ah just look at those pink cushions and blue accents…I am in love with this room, this is from BHG.

I don’t want to spend any money if possible, I am thinking  DIY, a bit of imagination and maybe ruffling through some charity shops. The only item I think we need to actually buy or source are some frames and a coffee table…but I think I can do that….maybe..wish me luck, I have 17 weeks to get my house sorted…this may be nesting setting in… (ask for Sophie, unless it’s a question about steak then Richard is your guy)

Etsy Picks for Nursery Art 1

Ok so a great way to add some fun to your nursery, especially if you rent and can’t decorate is putting up a gallery wall. The colour and shapes will stimulate your little one and make your nursery a cute place to be. I am planning to do this, and slowly building up a title collection.

I’m dreaming of Paris

Ok so I’m thinking of planning a long weekend away, and Paris is all that is on my mind. I think it’s important to spend a bit of time away before a new arrival, gives you both a chance to relax and not be all baby 24/7. Plus I am desperately in the need of a new environment. Ideally one where I haven’t thrown up in nearly every room. Now it’s a toss up between Paris and the English Countryside. lot’s depending on if I manage to find my passport..and if it’s in date. I know flying isn’t recommended after 6 months, so the euro tunnel is a must for me. I haven’t been to Paris in years, and as touristy as this might sound I haven’t been up the Eiffel Tower, so obviously thats on my list. But pretty much I want to eat lots of bread, take in gorgeous views,  delight in macarons and little cakes and be surrounded by gorgeous flowers. Wine would also be included in this..well maybe half a glass, I might treat myself if we go.

Found this article on how to do Paris on a budget, I am thinking of maybe only doing 2 or 3 days if we go, so it would be great not to spend a small fortune. This is from Lonely Planet.

Whenever I think of Paris I think of Funny Face with Audrey Hepburn, maybe I should get some ball gowns to wonder round Paris in…do you think there’s such thing as a maternity ball gown? and will I look a bit too fancy? This is from Lisa Congdon.

If you go check out Design Love Fest you can see the adventures Bri Emery had in Paris, with this cute little map and pictures galore, it’s sure to inspire, I know I have a list of places to go now.

Ah Paris, take me there now please!

My thought’s on pregnancy.

Now I am not going to lie to you, it’s like hard. You know when you see a pregnant women walking down the street, and she’s floating, glamours and growing a person..all lovely and glowing…yeah it’s totally not like that. Unless she’s lucky and has got away with no symptoms at all. Let me just give you a glimpse of the past 22 weeks..Warning, there might be a bit too much information don’t have a go at me if it is…I’ve warned you.

1. My morning sickness consisted of me puking up to 12 times a day. I’ve lost 25 pounds due to this..It also lasted, to this extent, till 16 weeks.

2. The remainder of the 6 weeks has seen my nauseau diminish to know more then 2-4 times a day..

3. Once I was so sick I partially peed myself…in my bathroom..this was like 6 weeks in..and has happened on two more occasions since. Dignity already lost.

4. Due to my lack of food, my hair went limp, and I got a lovely array of spots. Ironic really. Im having a baby, yet reverting back to teenage years at the same time.

5. My appetite was a no go. For 12 weeks I only drank orange flavoured beverages..Fanta and orange squash being a favourite, my food intake..was a nibble of ginger biscuits or steak flavoured crisps. These were the only two things I didn’t throw up, and the odd burger craving popped up every now and then. From 14 weeks, my appetite came back a little but only with certain foods. I had eaten my weight in monster munch and nik naks by week 16.

6. A few other fun symptoms I was blissfully unaware of before pregnancy. Heart burn..all the time. Sore hips and joints. From teenager skin to older age bones, gas, pulling of tummy muscles…I mean one turn in bed equals 5 minutes of excruciating pain. Headaches, migraines, constipation and crying at every advert that comes on tv…constantly. Oh and a new found excitement, trying to get out of bed..I’d describe it being  pretty similar to a turtle stuck on it’s back..and I am only expecting it to get worse..

7. What was I expecting you ask? Being tired, my tummy growing and the odd batch of sickness. How very wrong I was. I also sort of figured I’d have an insatiable appetite but’s the best diet I’ve ever been on.

I am now waiting for my feet to balloon up and the waddle to set in..exciting times ahead.

My midwife said something very profound to me at my 16 week appointment. When discussing my pregnancy so far. She said to me. “Women are like flowers in pregnancy. Some women blossom beautifully, others wilt…I think your a wilter..”

Totally sums it up. Don’t get me wrong I am very much looking forward to meeting our little person..but I suddenly have a lot more respect for my mum and Richards’s mum who went through this four times and at this moment..I thinking this little beaut might be an only child.

P.S some positives of pregnancy? Feeling the baby kick is fricking unreal, baby on board badge is gold dust,  everyone has a new sense of respect for you and your partner has to be extra nice to you, even when you have crazy badass hormones and become a teary eyed paranoid bitch. (sorry about the language).

And finally a last note to say that  here is my upmost respect to anyone who is currently pregnant, ( even the blossoming ones) and to those who have ever had children, Fair play ladies. Fair play.

Some news, and the reason my little blog has been suffering a little bit

Ok so I know the blog has been suffering, I haven’t been on my game since November, but now I will let you into the secret as to why. You see I have been suffering from some major….morning sickness.

Yep in November me and Richard found out I was pregnant and to be honest it still hasn’t sunk in. Especially after being told that I would need medication because of PCOS, so shocked doesn’t cut it, but it was a nice surprise.

Now I won’t go into the my gruesome details of my pregnancy today, I’ll leave that treat for another day, but as a quick note…it’s hard..I have such a new found of respect for all women out there…and especially to my mum and Richards mum who have done it four times at this point in time, the kid is going to be an only child. That’s my 12 week scan above..

So right now I am 21 weeks and 5 days. I’ve kept it quiet for many reasons, It’s taken me a while to get my head around it, I didn’t want to jinx it…( I still refuse to buy anything yet) and there were a few people I was waiting to tell first..I feel super weird even typing this, like I said, it’s still hasn’t really sunken in, I’ll probably still be pretty surprised even after the baby is born.

This is my scan from’s zoomed in…I’m not growing a baby with a giant head…( I checked…). We decided not to find out the sex, Richard insists it’s better as a surprise…I’m not so convinced but he won the war.

I leave you with a pic of me and Abby (i’m 20 weeks here) and yes we totally look like life partners posing outside Buckingham Palace..but hey who cares? I’m wearing quite a loose dress here…but I like to think I look kind of pregnant…haha. As some advice I’ve actually found wearing slightly more fitted clothes, look more flattering strangely enough, as the bump is more prominent. I’ll take some pics at some point once my head is out of the toilet. Anyway, here’s to some exciting months ahead.

P.S all morning sickness remedies welcome! Email me or leave a comment. (ask for Sophie, unless it’s a question about steak then Richard is your guy)

Exploring Our New Area…

Ok so we have been in Bedford for 3 months now, and we have found a few good places so far, including an awesome little tea room which does a cute afternoon tea! Was such a good way to end the week and we all know my love of Afternoon Tea, I think I want to spend the rest of my life tasting different afternoon teas. See my Fortnum and Mason afternoon tea  here.

This little place in St. Neots was great. It was down a little side street, with mix matched tables and chairs, and a constant smell of cake. They were baking right behind the counter. Here are a few pics from our afternoon tea at Poppy’s Vintage Tea Room.

I snapped him mid sentence…but I quite like the coooo look..he also looks super dainty drinking from dainty tea…note to all..this might be more of a friends thing..rather then boyfriends…but he did enjoy the little cakes!

I got an iced tea too and it was soooo good with fresh fruit, plus we totally have those glasses at home, note my excitement..

Homemade scones were amazing, obviously I cream then jam it….how do you guys do it? If your spreading jam then cream..thats wrong..

Mini cakes which included carrot cake and a little lemon meringue pie….so cute. Everything is a hell of a lot more fun to eat when it’s mini.

The full spread. The women were lovely, the cakes all looked amazing, and they even boxed up our left overs. FYI afternoon tea is super filling. It’s like a mini marathon of carbs. But amazing. The tea was divine and they had so many tea options to suit every taste plus you had options to pick your sandwiches..we went for a varied approach…

The rest of the weekend we discovered our new favourite butcher. We brought black treacle smoked bacon ( ridiculously incredible) and found a cute little farm shop where we got smoked garlic, fresh figs and a bunch of all in all…a weekend of good finds!

So if you find yourself in St. Neots…go venture to Poppy’s Tea Room. Also there menu is set on vintage ration cards…just to add to the setting.

Sun sun sun…

I am loving the weather today, it’s so sunny you might even be tricked into thinking it’s spring…anyway to add to my sun loving mood, here are some extra cute pins to get us into the spring mood.

Ok so I may have skipped spring and went straight for summer…I am totally obsessed with popsicles at the moment too, they just look awesome right. I am looking forward to less layers, bare feet, ice cream and possible holiday..bring on summer please.

Mother’s Day Gift Ideas

1. Yoga Mat, Anthropologie. 2.Mothers Day Card, Etsy. 3.Colourful Scarf, Anthropologie. 4. Watch, Anthropologie.                  5. Desert Plate, Anthropologie. 6. Flowers, Rebel Rebel.

Mother’s day is coming up and I always worry that I am just getting the same old thing for my mum every year…box of chocolates, bath stuff..or Tesco flowers. So I thought I would do some extra research this time and get somthing a bit different.. My mum isn’t into yoga, but if your is  that yoga mat looks amazing, I would take up yoga full time if I had a mat like that. A lot of the gift ideas come from Anthropologie, which is a great place for gifts. It has such cute dainty and colourful things.. if I had the money I swear my entire house would be an Anthropologie catalogue.  Another awesome place is Rebel Rebel flowers, located in Hackney in London. I love this place, their arrangements are so funky and fresh, plus you can get some really cute arrangements which come in water cans…so awesome. They also do workshops too…man I’d love to do a workshop there or maybe organise one for you and your mum?

Anyway I hope I have given some ideas of how to spoil your mum this Mother’s day!

Til tomorrow!

My Week Away From The Blog.

So some of you may have noticed my break from the blog for the last week and a bit..if you didn’t notice…well…I took a break from the blog.

So After my mums birthday I had an epic stomach bug. The last time I remember being that ill was when I was little…you know the stomach bugs that made there way round school? Anyway I was pretty ill for a good couple of days, and it took me a while to get me out of the post horrific stomach bug funk. So I took a couple of days off, but I am back and there are some things coming up in the next week which I am pretty excited about. But anyway I thought i’d show you my week off in pictures…seriously though how did we survive before camera phones?

So this weekend I went to London with the girls to see Billy Elliot. Bar Abby’s crying and wooing…it was rather good. This is what I ate…here I introduce to you the most expensive burger ever…it was tasty…but £12 for a plain burger…without it pushed the boat my £4 coke didn’t wash it down so well. But hey we were in Victoria, so I shouldn’t be surprised by the prices. But FYI Abby [aid £12 for a salad….a salad…

Look at my Wallace smile..just look at it..I never realised how wide my face can get either…but yes here we are doing a touristy selfie outside Buckingham Palace…I just love the cheese of it all…

It’s been ages since sister selfie, but I rather like this picture..

So before the storm of the stomach bug, we went back for my mum’s birthday and I made her some mini cakes…I am seriously going to give up baking..its stresses me out too much. But I think the cakes went down well. I made the little confetti cakes with a lemon curd filling, and the green ones were a earl grey tea sponge with a mint icing and a macaroon like thing on top…seriously these four little cakes took me all day…and by the end I needed a bath I was so tense..

So this was my get well package from Richard…I couldn’t really eat anything..but it was very much appreciated..seriously..worst two days ever. But gatorade is amazing…like amazing.

So after my weekend of hell, it was nice to spend the weekend with a spontaneous trip back to Essex we were there less then 24 hours, but a quick snap by the beach and a meal out, made me forget the nightmare of the stomach bug escapade.

Once my appetite was back..banana milkshake it was…this was soooo good..

And the weekend spent with Richard was nice..lazing in bed, tea in hand..perfection.

So that was my week…totally different stages throughout..but I  missed the blog, though I think I needed it..otherwise you may have had some weird ass posts…I was totally out of it for a few days..

But I’m back….
