52 WEEK DRAWING CHALLENGE: TWINS BIRTHDAY

So me being behind in my drawings worked out to the best in the end as today it’s my gorgeous twin nieces second birthday. Look how that worked out.. So I attempted to draw them…now according to Richard apparently I can’t draw ages.. which might be true as the twins look like 10 in this drawing. Plus they have no hands…they do actually have hands I just can’t draw hands, so there are polka dots to try and deter away from the no hand situation.. (have said hands too many times now). Which in turn made the picture very busy..

So yeah a total success….remember this doesn’t do them any justice, it’s like a cartoon version of them.. But here is a big happy birthday for Amelia and Eliza, from Aunty Sophie and Uncle Richard.

Note. Richard did not help draw the image…

I like the writing… poor chums, they are so much cuter in real life I promise you!  ted and rabbit who made an appearance , I think are dead on. Also Eliza doesn’t wear hoop earrings, that’s just an awkward place polka dot.

Anyway we are going back this weekend to celebrate with them, so wait for our DIY post coming up on Saturday for what we did for their presents!!

Happy Thursday all

52 WEEK DRAWING CHALLENGE: DRAW YOUR FAMILY

As I mentioned before, I went back to my home town with Richard to see some family, and this weeks drawing ties in really well with the weekend I had.

So I only sketched my immediate family, as had I included partners and babies, it would have been one in depth drawing, maybe I will draw the whole family another day. And as me and Richard both do this blog I thought I would do another drawing of his family too.

So I didn’t do my usual Photoshop thing. I sketched out the portraits in pencil then re-outlined them in pen. That was it. Then I scanned them in. I didn’t want to add colour as I really like how crisp they look just being done in pen.

Ok so from L-R We have Ben, Simon, Me, Abby, my Mum (Ali) and My Dad (Nick). I think Abby looks the most realistic, the head tilt thing she does when she is taking selfies and her little pea head too. It’s like I’m looking at a photograph…

The Sanders. L-R William, Peter, Richard, Beth, Pat (Richards Mum) and Bob (Richards Dad). Peter looks the most realistic here, which is always the way for some reason. When we made ginger bread men (personalised versions that is), Peter’s one looked spot on.

Anyway I hope you enjoyed my family portraits. This is technically last weeks, so I will be doing another drawing this week. This weeks theme is Twins…Hmm wonder what I could do for that one.

52 WEEK DRAWING CHALLENGE: A FLAMINGO ILLUSTRATION

So here’s last weeks drawing which is slightly late, but I hope it’s  worth the wait. It was a bird theme last week. I did a flamingo, surprised? But I made her slightly flashy, why be normal hey.  I have been really enjoying doing all these little projects over the weeks, think I found a basic drawing style which I kind of go to now and do. But enough baffle…ta da..

She’s quite pretty no? I’ve done a male equivalent, but that will be for another day.

I hope everyone enjoyed their bank holiday weekend! I did a ten mile bike ride, so I am now crippled but hey, thats the pain of looking cute while cycling an old, very old, rusty, heavy squeaky vintage bike.

Enjoy the day all x

Anyway if you wish to contact me through email or any other social network, the list is endless. But here is where you can find us.

52 WEEK DRAWING CHALLENGE: A BICYCLE

So keeping in with the theme of Earth Day I thought I’d make today’s drawing of transport an eco friendly one.

Bicycle

So it’s surprisingly hard to draw a bike, with the whole perspective view and stuff. I didn’t even attempt to draw a basket on the front. Just imagine a nice wicker basket on there. With fresh flowers and maybe a French baguette. Not stereotypical at all.

Yes I am very aware that I totally missed and skipped a week. Last week with the holidays and such, I found myself in a chocolate coma. The drawing I missed was a place, and one day I will make it up to you.

So I did the bike in our business colours, I love that it looks like a candy watermelon theme-ish. Want to join in with the challenge? Next week it’s draw a bird…hmmm wonder what I will draw..

Any woo! On that note I will say Ciao. Have a lovely Thursday and I will see you back here tomorrow. Same time yeah?

52 WEEK DRAWING CHALLENGE: BODY PART ILLUSTRATION

Ok, so this is late yes, but it took me ages, and then it all went wrong. So it’s a bit messed up so it’s abstract…. It’s not exact, so random tubes maybe somewhere they are not meant to be. So if your studying Biology or medicine, I’m sorry, but you can’t use this as an exact replica of a human heart…

Next week it’s draw a place… Now calm down. Hold your excitement…. But do join in and leave a link!

Heart

Enjoy!

P.S Hope you all had a good weekend. Tomorrow I will tell you all about mine.

52 WEEK DRAWING CHALLENGE: MY FAVOURITE BOOK

I had no problem deciding what book I was going to draw, I just wasn’t sure if I was going to do a copy of an edition or make my own up. So I kind of did both. The book I chose has had it’s cover re-done countless times. It is  an ultimate classic.

I read the book nearly every Christmas, and when I lived at home I used to watch it with my Mum every couple of months. The book I chose to do was Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice. It is completely and utterly my go to book and I never get tired of it. Here’s my picture.

It’s pretty basic, but then my copy of the book is simple. It’s pocket sized, and it’s a beautiful royal blue with Pride and Prejudice embossed in gold. It’s my mum’s copy which I never really gave back. But I treasure it.

I have seen quite a few versions, with silhouettes and intricate patterns going off onto the side. So I thought I would give it a go. I did a couple of silhouette ‘s using (of course) Colin Firth as Darcy and Jennifer Ehle as Elizabeth Bennet. They came out a lot better then I thought they would. The hardest part I found was finding good side profile pictures. I did a few different fonts, to show their indifference in the book. That’s also the reason why they are facing away from each other. Here I am giving you my artistic reasoning on a quick illustration. Sorry habit of an art degree student.

While I am on the subject of the  lovely Pride and Prejudice,I’ve wanted to join a book club for a while now and came across  A Beautiful Mess’s book club. The next book, which I just brought is called Longbourn By Jo Baker. I am so excited for this book to be delivered. It revolves around the lives of the servants of the Bennet House. So who knows what it may be like and I am looking forward to the discussion on their blog.

Back to drawing, pretty amazed I am still managing to keep up with this but for those who might be interested, or want to join, next week’s drawing theme is body parts. If you join in leave a link, would love to see your stuff. And as always, check out Paper Mama’s blog where I got the challenge from.

Enjoy your weekend

52 WEEK DRAWING CHALLENGE, LANDMARK, PARIS

Drawing week 7, It’s landmark time. So I decided to do the Eiffel Tower. I have to say that I loved doing this one. It was a bit of a labour of love but I got through it with lots of 7up zero (diet joy).  Anyway same process just as usual. I sketch,I scan, I play around on Photoshop. I had a lot of fun playing around with the negative space and colour with this piece. Might even make them into little greeting cards who knows.

Man I want to go Paris. I’ve been once, with a friend. Now that I actually have a man I think I totally want to do the cliche romantic trip to Paris. Plus I haven’t been up the Eiffel Tower…I’ve seen it, but not been up it. Maybe I can convince Richard or drop some hints… HINT…

But anyway here they are..on time. My adaptation of the Eiffel Tower. In a couple of colours. Let me know what you think, plus if your doing a drawing challenge link us to your site. We want too see! Also check out ThePaperMama’s site where I got the idea for the challenge from.

Want to join in? Next week it’s draw your name..(no idea how I am going to do this).

And as always enjoy.. (totally quoting Chef John from food wishes)
