ENJOYING THE OUTDOORS WITH KIDS

If you have children, you know just how difficult it can be to take time out to enjoy the outdoors. Many of us would love to spend more time in nature but our limited time doesn’t allow for it. There are ways however, you can enjoy the environment whilst teaching your kids about it.

Something as simple as going to the park may not appeal to everyone. Although it’s still a great way to spend time with the family, exploring the unknown can be much more fun. It’s time to get your creative juices flowing and get the most from nature with your kids by your side.

Children are known for losing attention. If something isn’t engaging enough, they will let you know by constantly nagging about it until it’s over. It can be difficult to find new ways of entertaining your child but creativity can go a long way.

Instead of going to the park for a fun afternoon out, why not come up with an intriguing story. Pretend you’re going on an epic quest to find treasure, for example. You can even prepare a map in advance, letting your child’s imagination do all the work. Give them a list of objects they need to find, leaf, pine cone flower etc. Sometimes giving kids a purpose makes the trip that more fun for them.

Enjoying the outdoors doesn’t have to be expensive. In fact, working on a tight budget can make your adventures even more fun. Children love stories, so why not make them the centre of their own adventure, plan a picnic with a hike as you tell a tale along the way.

Teaching your child, especially about the environment can be great fun. Why not print off a couple of pictures of popular plants and go to the park. If you have more than one child, make it competitive and give the child who finds them all first a treat. Give them a disposable camera and a list of items and landscapes to photography, then watch their enjoyment once there cameras have been developed.

It’s all about being unconventional and having fun. Learning doesn’t have to be boring. Even teaching your children about solar power can be fun. Companies like Semper Solaris specialise in solar panels. Why not find a similar company near you, and take your child for a day of exploration.

Children love to be entertained but hate being bored. Instead of making them go on boring trips that they will soon forget, make your adventures memorable. At the end of the day, it’s all about spending time with your family whilst teaching your children about their surroundings. If you make it boring, they won’t enjoy it. If you make it fun however, not only will they have a blast, but they will also remember the experience for life. Educate your child whilst having fun and you’ll never have a boring afternoon again.
