Wedding Wednesday’s : It’s time to get organised /22

Ok so when I spoke about my resolutions and aims this year, the biggest one I set myself was to become more organised. So this was an excuse to get some cute stationary, while I plan my days away and the wedding. So my filofax finally got delivered yesterday, and it is super cute. It’s from Kikki K which does the cutest stationary my only flaw against them was that because they are an Australian company I had to pay £20 to get it released from customs at Parcel force. Extortionate, but I guess it isn’t overly there fault. But the cuteness is worth it.

I am totally old school went it comes to keeping track of everything.  I had the same filofax for 5 years while I worked and while I was at uni, I decided to upgrade last year but couldn’t find one I liked, so just made do with a disposable diary for last year. Then I came across this. I suppose because so much of our time is based on our phones and laptops, tracking the ever growing technology and social medias it sometimes nice to just write down appointments and track your daily life using pen and paper. I find having a cute outlet, will make becoming more organised easier.

So I know this post isn’t overly wedding like, but as well as my daily planner I have also got a wedding planner, but it’s not your typical one.

So as some of you know, Richard proposed to me in Italy, read it here, and a couple of days after, we were walking around a little town when I came across this small little book shop where the woman working there was making books in front of you. So I have seen the cute planners going round which helps you plan your wedding but I kind of liked the idea of buying this book, in Italy where we got engaged, makes it that little bit more special no? The paper used is just beautiful and I am in love with the marble cover.

So I haven’t filled it up too much, as we all know my pace for planning, but I thought i’d show you the first page which has a polaroid of me and Richard taking the day after he proposed, taking in the same little town where we brought the book. I think regarding my way of executing this book, I am doing a more scrap book idea, something that maybe our kids in the future, would like to see, and a memory keep of my slow but hopefully fabulous wedding planning..

Perhaps as a goal for me I will show you guys a page a month, just to prove I am planning…

Enjoy your Wednesday’s all

Wedding Wednesday’s: How I picture my day /21

So I have come to the conclusion I am not a normal bride to be. I have been happily engaged for 7 months now, and I have only booked the photographer. Check her out here, she’s awesome. Unlike most women who throw themselves into wedding planner, I am just taking it slow…maybe too slow, but slow. I suppose I don’t want to impulse plan, or settle, thats not to say people who plan their weddings quickly are doing that, I just know how I am with making decisions, and sometimes it’s best for me to way up all the options.

So I know the area I want to get married, I am still working on the feel and mood of the day. I would love to be near a lake, to have a fireplace, and possibly rooms on location for older guests and friends and family with young children. I’d also like the idea of a barn, somewhere which can still be picturesque even in cold November. If you know of a  place like this in the Cotswolds drop me a link!

I want it to be fun, and colourful without having a tight schedule, I want to be able to relax and enjoy the day and the food. Especially the food. Flowers everywhere, pretty string lights, and people enjoying themselves. Good cake too.

Here’s a few pictures that might get what I want across…maybe..

Maybe I should hire a planner??

hmm..Also I want a band, know any, let me know!

ta for now

Wedding Wednesday’s: Mary-Anne James. Our wedding Photographer /19

Ok so a quick note of apology before I start talking about the wonders that is Mary-Anne. We have officially moved, though I am surrounded by boxes and the never ending task that is unpacking, hopefully the blog won’t suffer for much longer.

But now back to Mary-Anne. So I went to uni with her, so I already knew her ability to photograph and the added bonus of her being the sweetest girl ever, but when I saw her portfolio me and Richard both decided she is the one to photograph our wedding. It’s quite a big deal finding your perfect photographer. I have seen so many wedding photographs ruined by photographer’s who don’t really know what they are doing. Or the cheese of having to pose time and time again. I am not a poser, there’s a reason why there are hardly any pictures of me on this blog, and my Wallace cheese smile is the reason. But when I saw Mary-Anne’s portfolio, the natural response of her images and the soft aesthetic automatically put me at ease, and gave me the hope that maybe just maybe..she could get a picture of me not looking like half of Wallace and Gromit.  Anyway I’ll let the pictures do the talking, and remember to check out her portfolio here.

Look at how happy the couple look in this picture, it’s a great one of family and friends too. Mary-Anne has a real soft natural lighting to her images, giving them an almost vintage feel. This is of the lovely couple Paul & Annabelle, see the rest of their special day here on Mary-Anne’s site.

This is a perfect group shot in my eyes, the couple look blissfully happy, and the guest look like they are having a great time, add a tandem to the mix and you kind of have the perfect group shot.. This is of the lovely couple Sophie & Mike, see the rest of the images here.

Just look at the lighting and the setting of this, doesn’t it just look beautiful, especially with her dress flowing out like that over the tree stump.

Another shot from Annabelle and Paul, I love the smile on the brides face, she really looks natural and Mary-Anne has caught the moment perfectly.

This has to be one of my favourite images from her portfolio, the light, the stance the couple. It’s just a dream shot really. I have never met this couple, but Mary-Anne has managed to capture them beautifully, their personality comes through in her images. This is of the lovely couple Leya & Oliver. See the rest of their special day here.

Another image from Mike & Sophie’s wedding, read their review on Mary-Anne here, if not just looking at her images instantly makes you want to book her for your wedding, the reviews will without a doubt. But don’t leave it too long, there’s a reason why Mary-Anne being our photographer is the only thing I have booked so far. I can see her being fully booked for years to come. Just read the reviews and take a look at the rest of her portfolio.

So there are just a few of her images, like I said go check out the rest of her portfolio.  As well as wedding day coverage her other services also include engagement shoots and pre-wedding and she is available in and outside of the Uk.  Plus she can do beautiful handmade wedding albums, and you can get a dvd with the edited images on at a high resolution. Allowing you to print off as many as you like for family and friends. What more could you want…another assistant photographer?..for large weddings she does that too. Just go check her out guys!

So happy Wednesday all…im of to un-pack…again..

It’s crazy to think I have been doing Wedding Wednesday’s for 2 months now. Are you guys enjoying it? Is there anything specific you want me to touch on? Send me an email or leave a comment.

I am really enjoying it, and looking forward to visiting some venues in the next month or so. It’s a little difficult as we are across the country from where we will be getting married so for a 3 hour + drive, ideally we are going to do like a mini road-trip of venues. Something I am so excited about. I feel like once we have a venue booked it makes it very real…you know?

Anyway the topic I have been looking into to today is stationary. I am a sucker for stationary, like I’d quite happily have a notebook for every hour of the day…Anyway stationary is such a fun topic you and your other half can talk about. It’s not just journals, although primarily that’s what I am looking at today. But save the dates, invitations, thank you cards, table charts and such!! Oh the stationary.  I brought a lovely binded journal from Italy which I have been making notes in, but there are so many cute journals out there.

This journal which you can get from Not On The Highstreet which is by Sloane Stationary is classic and clean. But costing £45 you may not be able to afford one for every hour of the day…

This wedding notes book from Kikki.K is awesome, and the rest of the stationary available is insane!! And they ship internationally! WOO.

This looks amazing, and from Etsy and at only £7.50, this pocket planner is perfect for little notes you might take along the way!

Another amazing Etsy find, which sadly doesn’t ship internationally yet (just the states) is from Haute Papier . A 3-monthly subscription service where you get paper goodies. Its looks amazing, and I await/hope of the day they ship to the UK. Great as a possible inspiration for wedding stationary.

Possibly a nice gesture for the best man? I think this is awesome, but I think Richards plan involves more beer and maybe a few emails. This is from Not On The Highstreet and is by The Green Gables.

From Not On The Highstreet too and also by Green Gables. This is a cute idea for maybe the maid of honour? Great idea for when your going to all the wedding vendors together.

I might be seeing a possibly DIY journal post coming on soon…ooo the excitement!
